John Wick Lays Waste to the World in an Epic Fourth Instalment

With ice cool chop-socky machismo, indestructible tenacity and countless assassins tracking his every move – John Wick (Keanu Reeves) trailblazes his way onto 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD digital in John Wick: Chapter 4.

Pursued by everyone on foot, on horseback and by every modern means of mobilisation – this latest outing in the on-going saga is epic. As The New York Continental gets reduced to dust, Winston (Ian McShane) is relinquished of all his privileges and Charbon (Lance Reddick) goes toe to toe with the Marquis (Bill Skarsgard) things kick up a gear.

As the bounty on the head of John Wick increases, so it is that he seeks solace in Osaka. A place where old friends and enemies are indivisible, in this hardcore hedonistic headlong race towards an inevitable endgame.

With his freedom from the High Table only possible through single combat with the Marquis, this fourth film becomes about a race through Paris before sun up. With an old adversary and erstwhile friend haunting his every step, John takes on all comers in this ultra-violent martial arts mash up.

As audiences have come to expect from this series, director Chad Stahelski ensures that every hyper-stylised set piece is off the chart. Overhead drone shots chart the carnage, frenetic fist fights using any objects to hand draw blood, while John Wick and his enemies clash heads for almost 3 hours.

With the return of Laurence Fishburne (Bowery King), new additions including an exception Donnie Yen (Caine) and the overbearing presence of Clancy Brown (The Harbinger) – there is so much to enjoy this time round.

Epic scenery, global trotting action beats and an ice-cold anti-hero with dialogue barely reaching double digits – John Wick: Chapter 4 is also extremely light on exposition.

Thankfully, he has always been a man of few words, preferring instead to employ precise execution in lieu of any small talk. Meaning that this latest outing in the world of contract killers whips by at a rate of knots. Taking mean and moody to a whole new level, whilst confirming Keanu Reeves as an action icon for a new generation.

There might be moments which stretch the limits of disbelief, as our rail thin assassin gets thrown around like a rag doll, or plummets from impossible heights onto concrete, but in the main these are fleeting concerns. The fact is that John Wick might be the action equivalent of sensory overload, but somehow still manages to walk away with a mainstream vibe and whispers of more a follow-up.

What other reason do people need to catch this latest instalment on 4k Ultra HD, than the promise of yet more revenge driven death dealing from a certain baba yaga.
