Seth MacFarlane (Ted, Family Guy) is the producer behind this re-tooled return to classic slapstick farce with The Naked Gun. Out of the blocks with Liam Neeson stepping into the fabled shoes of Leslie Nielsen, this new teaser gives audiences a taste of what director Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Stopping) has conjured up.

Acting as an introduction to Liam Neeson taking things in a new direction, that infamous deadpan demeanour gets road tested. There are hat tips to the original, that make short work of bringing audiences up to speed, but laughs are thin on the ground.
However, hold your horses, because this is just a taste, and there will be plenty of time for audience debate further down the road. With Paul Walter Hauser (Blackbird, Inside Out 2) onboard as Neeson’s partner in crime-fighting, and Pamela Anderson replacing Priscilla Presley, time will tell if this new incarnation can fly.
Either way, The Naked Gun is unleashed in cinemas on August 8th, and audiences can look forward to a full trailer before then – hopefully with a few more laughs.
